Transport

Suitable and affordable accessible transport for persons of all disabilities remains a challenge and is one of the largest barriers to the independence of persons with disabilities.

There are many rural areas of the Western Cape which do not have public transport, let alone accessible transport. These areas are largely reliant on the taxi industry which also carries challenges for persons with disabilities. Some Branches have limited transport available for those in their activity groups or workshops, but this is by no means the norm.

While we do not provide transport for persons with disabilities, we are active in lobbying for suitable transport and act as a conduit for rebate permit applications, as well as parking disc and beach permit applications.
