Tygerberg APD: Placement of people with disabilities in the work environment with thanks to Pick n Pay

Having an opportunity to use their talents, make a contribution to society, and earn a living, are the deepest wishes of any person with a disability.

 

Earlier this year, the Human Resources Practitioner of Pick n Pay was referred to Tygerberg APD via head office.  The objective was to recruit differently abled persons for their stores in the Northern Suburbs.  Our heartfelt thanks go out to Pick n Pay.

 

The CEO of Tygerberg APD, Mr Roger Fritz, seized the opportunity and arranged for eligible clients to come for assessment interviews, assisting them all the way until completion of the recruitment.

 

Once again, donations from friends like you came into play allowing APD to assist clients with transport and administrative support.  Thank you.

 

The initiative was a major success with 17 out of 22 candidates being placed as Pick n Pay staff members. For orientation and development, Pick n Pay has a buddy system as a go-to person for guiding new recruits in the workplace.

 

Tygerberg APD was able to complete the process by running a disability sensitization workshop with supervisors of these clients, empowering them to deal sensitively with this cohort of staff.

 

The project is running well, with TAPD, and friends like you, still acting as a support structure for these clients.
